TIPS FOR PREPARING YOUR CAT FOR A VETERINARY VISIT

1.   It is best to start at a young age.

2.   Make the cat carrier into a comfortable place by associating it with resting, feeding,

      treats or play.

3.   The carrier can become  a secure comfortable place for the cat by associating with familiar

      blankets, towels and toys.

4.   Take your cat on fun trips to the vet or to see friends to get treats.

5.   Refrain from feeding your cat for at least 4 hours prior to travel to reduce the possibility of motion

      sickness and vomiting.  This will also increase interest in treats if offered at your destination.

6.   Feline pheromone sprays can be spayed into carriers or your vehicle to increase a sense of

      well being in your cat.

7.   If your cat is extremely anxious about travel consult with this hospital for advice on medications

      that may be appropriate and safe for your cat.
